Three weeks ago I started my very first internship at the Red Cross. I have to admit I love waking up at 8am on Tuesdays and Thursdays and walking to the Red Cross Community Chapter on Pugh and Beaver. So far it has been a fun experience and it felt so good to finally get an internship. Last fall when I was applying everywhere, I thought I would never find an internship, but when I got an interview at the Red Cross my supervisor at the hired me on the spot. It pays to be enthusiastic. The Red Cross has been such a great opportunity. I open the Donor Center on the days of blood drives and make sure the “canteens” are ready to go for blood drives that are not located at the chapter itself. I do a lot work in the office of my supervisor as well. Everything I have been doing has been somewhat related to PR in some way or another. I have learned so much in just a short time. Doing my internship at the Red Cross also made me realize I would love to work for this organization when I get older. They help so many people and it’s great to be a part of that. When I go home after this semester I plan to volunteer at the Red Cross in Philadelphia.
