In my last semester of senior year, I am taking Comm 473 with Dr. DiStaso. I was very excited to take this class, for I knew it was the last Public Relations class I would ever take at Penn State. After learning so much last semester in my 471 class with Professor Nichols, I was anticipating learning even more in 473. In my 473 class, the students were divided into two groups that would each be working for a client. The two clients are Easter Seals and Hope For Kids. Each group has one or two students assigned to a specific role in the group, such as Account Manager, Event Director, Research Director, Editing Director and Creative Director. I was assigned Research Director for Hope For Kids, and I could not be more excited! Hope For Kids is a non-profit foundation in State College with branches in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. Hope For Kids works with today’s youth who are less fortunate by fostering positive relationships, and teaching and encouraging them to be the best they can be. Our job for the Hope for Kids is to plan a 5K to raise money for these young children in need. I love participating in 5K’s so I am thrilled to be a part of planning one for such a great cause. Our first meeting with our client is this Friday, and I am so excited to be a part of such a great organization and to make a difference in the lives of the children that need it most.
