By Sarah Kurz, Vice President
Hello PRSSA and welcome back to the 2013-2014 school year! I am thrilled to be writing this blog post and introducing myself as your new Vice President for the upcoming year.
My name is Sarah Kurz, and I am a junior majoring in Public Relations with minors in English and Communications, Arts and Sciences. I have been a member of PRSSA since my freshman year at Penn State, and I am so excited to share what I have learned over the past two years with all of our new and veteran members.
Last year I was the chair of the Communications Committee and was given the opportunity to form many close relationships with my committee members, executive board and other members of PRSSA. This year I hope to do the same, and will continue to do so by inspiring our members to bond in activities both in and outside of PRSSA.
We have a lot of great things planned for the upcoming school year including some amazing guest speakers, helpful workshops and exciting events! Over the past year we have expanded our organization to include new activities and large events like this 2013 Regional Conference. I have had the privilege of watching our chapter grow over the past two years, and I only expect more great things to come from our dedicated and thoughtful members.
Our members can look forward to awesome benefits like event planning and fundraising experience, communications portfolio pieces, and being a part of our amazing THON families, the Whiteheads and the Scotts. In addition to being a part of any of our four committees, PRSSA members will also get the chance to network with other students, alumni, staff and other PRSSA members in their journey towards education, internships and future jobs. I am pleased to say PRSSA has done a great amount for my student career and beyond, and I can’t wait to see the impact our organization will have on you as well.
I encourage all of you to come out to our first general meeting on Tuesday, September 3rd, and learn more about PRSSA, our executive board, and what our organization has to offer. I hope this school year is a fantastic one, and we can’t wait to get started!
