Why Cupcakes and PR Go Together

By: Vanessa Cardy, Director of PR

Sprinkles Cupcakes, the world’s first cupcake bakery, revealed its fifth cupcake ATM location on Lexington Avenue in New York City, a long awaited proposal. For the launch, golden tickets were stuffed into random cupcakes orders with prizes, like a $500 gift card or a Sprinkles Party. Talk about reminiscing back to the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory days.

The anticipation of the reveal was enough to grasp the attention of city goers, however, added surprises in the cupcakes were like icing on the cake (literally) in terms of public relations. The company is already well known for its hit ATM’s in other major cities, such as Beverly Hills, Dallas, Chicago, and Las Vegas. It was only about time for one to appear in The Big Apple.

At the ATM, you can get up to four separate cupcakes, cookies, and doggie treats at a time. The ATM can hold up to 760 cupcakes and includes 20 varieties to choose from, with each costing $4.25. Some of the flavors available are red velvet, dark chocolate banana, and cinnamon sugar among others. Additionally, there is a special deal for dogs—two mini cupcakes for $5. The canine cupcakes come in only one option, sugar-free with yogurt frosting.

Of course, cupcakes can be purchased at all hours of the day for those spur-of-the-moment cravings.

Sprinkles Cupcakes intends to install more ATM’s in the New York City area, with a second location pending near the World Financial Center. This ATM is expected to open within the next few months.

The ATM is sure to be a hit among tourists, increasing awareness and most importantly—the company’s reputation. The bakery is slowly sweeping the nation with its handcrafted treats, made from the finest ingredients. The cupcake craze in only beginning, I mean, where else can you get a cupcake at 3:00 a.m.?
