We are thrilled to announce today that after months of hard work, the Lawrence G. Foster Chapter of PRSSA at Penn State has been awarded the regional conference for Spring 2015 from the Public Relations Student Society of America Regional Conference Committee.
The theme for the conference is PR Industries Defined: #PluggedIntoPR. We will be announcing official programming and speakers over the next few months as we eagerly work together to plan the conference.
The Director of Regional Conference, Amelia Friedrichs, says “the entire Regional Conference team could not be more excited for the opportunity to host and kick off the PRSSA regional conference season.” The two day conference will be held February 6-7, 2015 at the Day’s Inn in State College and is the first regional conference among the ten in the country.
Amelia worked with co-Directors, Emily Grabowski and Crystal Remick, as well as club advisor Dr. Ann Major, diligently over the summer to ensure Penn State would receive the conference bid.
Rebecca Shapiro, president, had this to say about winning the bid:
“I could not be more proud of all the work that the Regional Conference Committee has done in order to secure the bid. These three women worked extremely hard throughout the summer and since getting back to school in planning and preparation for the conference. This conference in particular will be extremely unique and we hope that it offers PRSSA members and Penn State students alike a wonderful learning and network opportunity unlike any other.”
Be sure to follow us on our social media accounts to stay up to date with announcements from the regional conference. The official website, social media accounts, and logo for the conference will be launched soon.
“To everyone attending: get ready. We have a ton in store and we’ve already hit the ground running,” says Amelia. We are looking forward to hosting schools such as Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Temple University and Bloomsburg University.
Next week, part of the executive board will be traveling to Washington D.C. to represent the chapter and participate in the PRSSA National Conference where they will hear from professionals in the industries and network with students from other chapters. During the conference Amelia and the board “will promote our Regional Conference with a bunch of fun giveaways.”
